Our Vision 

A building that serves as a place of encounter and equipping. A hub for a healthy, Christ-centred community that will stand as a beacon for generations to come. This is what we see for our church. 

Our Current Limitations 

Currently, 30% of our budget goes towards lease payments, limiting our ability to start new ministry initiatives. We also face restrictions due to other tenants and our landlord’s decisions at our current location, 442 Tuam Street.

Without change, future generations will continue to see a significant portion of our resources tied up in leasing costs. 

The Solution 

To move forward, we are launching a giving and fundraising campaign with the goal of raising a $700,000 deposit over the next 12 months (by July 2025). This will allow us to negotiate the purchase of 442 Tuam Street or find a more suitable location.

With our own building, we can design and renovate the space to better serve our needs now and in the future. 

Our Progress and Plan 

  • We currently have approximately $120,000 saved towards our deposit. 

  • We aim to raise $400,000 through one-off gifts and 12-month pledges. 

  • We seek to generate $180,000 through innovative fundraising initiatives led and driven by our church members. 

Important Considerations 

  • Our ultimate vision is not the building itself, but to further the revolution of love that Jesus began. The building is a tool for our mission, not the focus. 

  • We believe this journey will deepen our faith and commitment to our cause. It will be a healing process for those who have been hurt by past giving projects and a powerful physical manifestation of the spiritual work God is doing in us. 

  • Please continue your current giving as it is vital that our general budget remains unaffected by this new project. 


FAQ

1. What if we get more? We will be able to borrow less and reduce outgoings immediately. 

2. What if we get it all quickly? We will be able to look at buying sooner. 

3. What if we do not raise it by then? We will likely look for a Sunday only venue and keep saving. 

4. What if I/we cannot make it to the 23rd gathering? No worries, we will have our black offering box available in the foyer for commitment cards to be collected over the coming weeks. 

5. Can I/we claim a tax rebate with this offering? If you have a giving number allocated, our team can track your giving and issue you a giving statement at the end of the financial year (31st March) for you to complete a tax return with IRD and claim 33% back of your giving. 

6. Can I get a giving number? Yes, you just need to email our team – accounts@revolutionchurch.co.nz and they will be able to issue a giving number to you. 

7. Can I volunteer to help with the building project? Yes, we would love to hear any ideas you have to help us with initiatives in raising funds for a building. Get in touch via email info@revolutionchurch.co.nz 

8. How will the funds be managed and overseen? All money donated and raised for the building fund are being directed into a specific ‘2-to-sign’ bank account. These funds are checked monthly by our Board of Trustees. We have accountant prepared annual accounts completed every financial year.  

9. How will the Revolution faith community be kept informed about the progress? We will provide quarterly updates to our faith community regarding how we are tracking with the money raised. This will be via email and on Sundays. We will also use this page, which we will keep updated throughout the year. 

10. Do I just redirect my current tithe/giving? Regular tithes and offerings should continue as usual. The building fund is a separate initiative and should be treated as an additional, designated giving opportunity. This means we can still cover all current ministry costs whilst we save toward this building project. 

11. Ways to give:

  • A regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly automatic payment into our building fund account. You can use these details to set up an AP with your bank

  • EFTPOS – you can give via our EFTPOS terminal at the coffee machine on a Sunday. You simply enter the amount you want to give and your giving number as a reference and complete the transaction. Our coffee cart servers will be there to help.

  • Cash – you can give this via our giving envelopes that are available on Sundays. It is important that you note your giving number and write Prepare for the Future on the outside of the envelope and then place the envelope in the black box at the info desk.
